With an ever changing climate within the police service and the Police and Crime Act 2017 receiving Royal Assent last year, it’s a significant time for those engaged in the professional standards and ethics arena.
We are now undergoing fundamental reform of the complaints system and have had the restructuring and renaming of the IPCC to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, with its first Director General, Michael Lockwood being appointed in October 2017. In addition, 2017 has seen the implementation of the new vetting code of practice.
This conference will offer an opportunity to share innovative ideas and good practice to ensure that the police service continues to provide a professional and legitimate service to the public, both now and in the future..
