With an ever changing climate within the police service and the Police and Crime Act 2017 receiving Royal Assent, this year is a significant year for those engaged in the professional standards and ethics arena.
We are now undergoing fundamental reform of the complaints system and the restructuring and renaming of the IPCC to the Independent Office of Police Conduct under a new Director General.
In addition, 2017 will see implementation of the new vetting code of practice and building on the publication of guidance around abuse of authority for sexual gain.
This year’s conference will focus on learning and aspiring to approve, whilst providing a timely opportunity for those engaged in this area of policing to discuss and debate the changes and those that are yet to take effect.
